Gardaí are advising those attending the St Patrick’s parade in Galway city next week on Tuesday, March 17, and also those who may have other business in Galway city centre on that day, that there will be road closures in place from 11am to 2pm in Galway city centre to facilitate the St Patrick’s Day Parade.
These restrictions will have knock-on effects for other arterial routes around the city. Gardaí would like to advise people to get into town early and park up in good time, as it is anticipated there will be an exceptionally large crowd.
Gardaí would also like to advise others who may be in town on the morning or afternoon of Tuesday, March 17, that they may experience delays leaving the city centre due to these traffic restrictions, and to bear this in mind when making their plans.
The St Patrick’s Day Parade will commence at 11:30am from the University of Galway, adjacent to the Quad, turning left onto University Road, proceeding towards Galway Cathedral, going over the Salmon Weir Bridge, towards the Courthouse and then turning right onto Saint Francis Street.
The parade will continue towards the review stand in Eyre Square, then turn left onto Bothar Na mBan, proceed to Headford Road, and conclude at the Black Box on the Dyke Road.
