TY Students from Coláiste Iognaid returned to Lough Corrib Angling Federation Trout Hatchery in Oughterard to release their hatched out fry.

Those students initially visited the hatchery to view the ova in the incubation unit last January. This week, the students returned with their teacher Clodagh Mitchell to release the hatched out fry into the Doire Loctar stream on the Owenriff/Corrib system.

Hatchery volunteers Kevin Prunty, author of 'Incubating the Trout', and John Gibbons met with the group and gave a talk and demonstration on the process of this important work and some students released fry into the stream.

This year, the hatchery has produced over 200,000 unfed fry which were distributed throughout the Lough Corrib system by volunteers of the federation.
