Galway's senior camogie team return to Centra Camogie League action against Waterford this Saturday.
The Tribeswomen will look to get up and running this weekend after an opening day defeat to Kilkenny in their previous outing. The All-Ireland champions suffered a narrow 2-11 to 1-13 loss at Duggan Park a fortnight ago.
Despite the disappointing result, Cathal Murray and his management will take encouragement from the valuable game time afforded to several younger players. There was also a welcome return for Niamh McPeake following her recovery from an ACL injury.
Galway's preparation for this fixture has been hindered due to being left stranded in a snowstorm in New York on a holiday celebrating their All-Ireland success. The squad were due to fly back on Sunday but as of time of going to print remain Stateside.
It is hoped they will return in time to face Waterford on Saturday afternoon.
Waterford kicked their campaign off with a six-point win at home to Cork. They made light work of their Munster counterparts and last season's All-Ireland runners-up in a 1-12 to 0-9 victory at Walsh Park.
They will be plotting another giant killing against Galway this Saturday. Beth Carton and Niamh Rockett are the danger women for Na Deise as they shot 1-8 between them against Cork.
Although Cork only fielded four players from their All-Ireland defeat to Galway last summer, this was a statement by Waterford. The Tribeswomen will have to be at their best to take down this Waterford side full of confidence.
Throw-in is 3pm this Saturday, February 28.
