NEW GALWAY theatre company Danú will be officially launched this weekend before travelling to Scotland perform the play Dolores at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Danú will be officially launched this Sunday at 8pm in the Loughrea Hotel and Spa. The event will feature a preview Irish/British performance of Dolores by American playwright Edward Allan Baker. Afterwards there will be music by east Galway singer-songwriter Neev Kennedy and a DJ.
Following the Galway launch, Danú will perform Dolores at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August. The company has also been shortlisted to perform at Theatro Technis in London in September.
Dolores, which will feature Donna Patrice and Sarah Fahy, focuses on two sisters. Dolores seeks refuge at her sister Sandra’s house. The events that follow as Dolores begs to stay reveal a dynamic, hilarious, often tragic relationship between the two sisters trying to escape their undesirable circumstances.
Company founder Donna Patrice has trained in Dublin, Toronto, and New York and is keen to bring a fresh perspective to international playwriting to suit Irish and British audiences.
