Galway’s Enable Ireland shop is asking locals to join a nationwide movement to "break up with your stuff" and donate pre-loved items to support vital services for people with disabilities.

This February, the Enable Ireland shop is taking a cheeky twist on the Valentine's theme. From Valentine's Day, Saturday, February 14, to Saturday, February 21, Enable Ireland shops across the country are encouraging the public to declutter their homes. All high-quality items donated will support Enable Ireland, which provides services to over 13,000 children and adults with disabilities.

To soften the blow of the break-up, Enable Ireland Shops are also offering an extra incentive. Donors simply need to come into the shop with a donation and tell staff they want to break up with their stuff. In return, they’ll receive five euros off when they spend over 25 euros in the store.

Oonagh O’Connor, Commercial Manager at Enable Ireland, said, “We all have items we know we’ve been holding onto for far too long. Clothes, accessories, and other items that are still in great condition but, if we’re honest, we know we’ll never use again. That’s why we’re asking the public to break up with them this Valentine's.

"Go through your wardrobes, kitchen presses, and chest of drawers. What may no longer be useful to you could be exactly what someone else is looking for. We’ll help your donations find the perfect match, and you’ll help raise funds to benefit our vital services.”

Enable Ireland is accepting donations of high-quality items at their store on 23/24 High Street, Galway. Members of the public can also donate to one of the charities’ 174 textile banks located across the country. Alternatively, to any TK Maxx store nationwide, or directly into any Enable Ireland charity shop.

Enable Ireland loves to accept donations of clean, good-quality clothes, shoes, handbags, and accessories. They also accept towels, linens, homeware, and glassware. As well as collectables, books, loose toys and unwanted gifts.

Unfortunately, the charity cannot accept donations of electrical items, dirty or soiled items. Neither broken items, mattresses, duvets or pillows. This is due to the high disposal costs.
