Aisling Newe’s solo show Where Ancient Earth Meets will run from Thursday, February 3, to February 14.
Newe works with turf to explore movement, flow, and the living spirit of the bog. Through organic forms and natural textures, she reveals bogland as a vibrant ecosystem, rich with beauty, memory, and quiet transformation.
She sees the bog not only as a landscape, but as a rhythmic source of life, history, and artistic expression.
“My work reimagines the bog not just as a place of tradition, but as a vibrant, breathing world, where nature, memory, and emotion merge. By blending abstraction with organic form, I aim to evoke the harmony and fragility of this landscape, reminding us of our connection to the land and the need to protect it,” she says.
Newe was inspired by a bog walk in Casla for her first solo exhibition.
“The landscape appears barren, desolate, and subdued. Yet, when I am there, it fills me with joy, vitality, and a deep sense of peace - emotions bursting with colour. What seems lifeless at first reveals a quiet beauty that energises me.”
