Craughwell Athletic Club officially launched the 2026 Galway Women’s Mini Marathon on Saturday, January 10.
The event will take place during the St Brigid’s bank holiday on Monday, February 2. Craughwell AC are inviting all women to run, jog, or walk 10km.
Anna Grealish is the Women in Sport Lead for Athletics Ireland and has expressed her delight at “women’s only events taking place around the country”.
“This event grows bigger every year and helps support women to get running and stay running. Women’s only events have a very special atmosphere and help create an amazing and inspiring community of women who run together,” she added.
The Galway Athletics County Board are supporting the event through their ‘Women in Sport’ programme. The proceeds of the event go towards the development of facilities at the athletics club which plays a very important role in keeping young women involved in sports but also caters for the physical and mental health of the community.
The event is also sponsored by Hannah Orthopaedics, Borrisoleigh Bottling Ltd, Salto Systems Ireland, and local company Nuasan.
