Monroe’s Live has revealed a busy Christmas line-up for the remainder of December.
Management at the The Dominick Street venue say they will run a series of gigs supporting home grown talent over the holidays, and stage the ever popular Club 30 + taking place this December to get us through the New Year.
This Saturday, December 20, at 8pm, Trá Pháidín will bring a bold fusion of trad, jazz, post-rock and absurdity to the stage. Hailing from Connemara, this collective is firmly rooted in the Irish language, exploring themes of the local landscape and culture through exciting instrumentals.
Known for their explosive energy, Trá Pháidín has released several albums, including Set a hAon and Set a dó, which are lengthy, free-flowing pieces. Their latest album, An 424, reflects this spirit of improvisation and organic music.
They describe themselves as “somewhere halfway between a Showband, a céilí band and an elastic band” and what would happen if Tony Allen and Andy Irvine “were an elevator.” Tickets are €15.
On Saturday, December 27, Club 30+, is back once again for those who love clubbing without the late night.
Discover the best of the 80s, 90s and beyond, without having to worry about queuing for a taxi home. Doors open at 6pm to reclaim the joy of a proper night out without sacrificing the next day.
The party wraps up early enough to grab food and catch a bus home. The event is strictly over-30s and tickets are €10.
On Sunday, December 28, Monroe’s welcomes back Chris Boldt as part of his Made for Moretour.
At 20-years-old, he has already built a remarkable career. His music has amassed millions of streams on Spotify, and he has performed in major venues.
Music has been a constant presence in his life from an early age. He picked up the guitar at nine, influenced by a household filled with blues and rock and roll.
After a period of uncertainty in early 2024, when he considered stepping away from music to start a trade, he was approached by artist recruiters in Montana, after they discovered his song ‘Heaven’s Eyes’.
That opportunity led to a move to the US, further recording sessions in Nashville, and growing international attention. He will be supported by special guest Brian Houston. Doors open at 7pm, with tickets at €15.
On Tuesday, December 30, in Monroe’s Backstage, Writers in the Round brings together Vincent Cross from America, alongside Irish songwriters Tom Portman and Tracy Bruen for a seated, intimate evening of songs and stories.
Drawing from folk, Americana and contemporary Irish songwriting, the format allows each artist space to share not just their music, but the ideas and experiences behind it. Doors open at 7.30pm with tickets €10.
