Galway City Council Arts office rolling out 2026 grants and bursary schemes

Galway City Council Arts office is now rolling out 2026 grants and bursary schemes aimed at supporting local arts organisations and practitioners to produce engaging and inclusive arts programmes for Galway city.

Reviewing 2025; Galway City Council Arts Office allocated funding to 38 professional arts organisations, 34 community, volunteer or amateur arts organisations and 21 independent creative practitioners. Additionally, over 80 artists received supports from Galway City Arts Office.

Cllr Niall Mc Nelis, Chairperson of Tourism, Arts, Culture Community SPC said “The arts and culture in Galway are what makes it special and this investment in local community supports local economy in City. These programmes, along with our Cultural Partnerships and Culture Night activity distributed over €1m arts investment in Galway city. “

Arts Officer Ruth Mulhern said ‘The Arts Office is gearing up to expand and develop these supports in 2026 with matched overall funding for the arts. So far, we have launched the Arts Grants for Organisations and our Creative Practitioner Bursaries. We also have fantastic opportunities launching in 2026.

“We work with a budget from Galway City Council and supplemented by Arts Council of Ireland. In 2025, the Arts Council contributed €90,000 funding to the Galway City Arts Partnership Framework as well as significant investment in the RTE Culture Night 2025 broadcast live from Galway City”
