Athenry AC athlete Sean Doggett has been awarded the Schools Athlete of the Year for 2025.
The 19-year-old was awarded the prize for his School Championship wins and international appearances after a stellar year over 400m for the Coláiste an Éachréidh student. One of Doggett's standout moments this year was his gold medal win at the Irish Schools Track and Field Championships where he set a competition record of 47.22 seconds.
National Cross Country Championships
The second day of the National Cross Country championships, the National Uneven Ages Juveniles and Men's and Women's Novice Cross Country Championships will be held next Sunday, December 7 in the National Sports Campus, Dublin.
There will be big Galway representation in the capital as over 100 juvenile athletes qualified. The first race will kick-off at 11.30am.
In the Novice events, Galway City Harriers will field strong Men's and Women's teams, while Craughwell and Castlegar AC will also field Men's squads. Aimad Belayd of Castlegar, Sean Cotter and Mathys Bocquet of Craughwell, and Evan O'Rourke of Maree AC will expect to place high in what will be a fast and furious Men's 6km event.
Fields of Athenry 10k
Athenry AC will host the Fields of Athenry 10km on December 26 at 11am, with entries still available on Eventmaster.
