Galway City Museum’s FREE Winter Talk Series at Westside Resource Centre

Galway City Museum will hold its special Winter Talk Series at Westside Resource Centre (H19 C1KX ), running from November 2025 to March 2026. Developed in response to community interest, the series offers an engaging mix of folklore, local history, built heritage, and environmental storytelling to brighten the darker months.

The next talk in the series takes place on Tuesday December 2 with Damien Donnellan on Galway Tower Houses, highlighting some of Galway’s most remarkable medieval structures. Welcoming in the new year, on Tuesday 6 January, historian William Henry will delve into Galway and the Night of the Big Wind, the devastating 1839 storm etched into Galway’s memory.

In early 2026, the series continues with Beyond Sushi: The Importance and Uses of Seaweeds with Julie Grivotte on Tuesday 3 February, followed by Old Galway in Photographs with John Breslin on Tuesday 3 March.

All talks take place from 10.45am to 12pm and are free of charge. Advance booking is recommended by contacting Westside Resource Centre at (091 ) 528325.

Free Christmas Concert at Galway City Museum

The Museum will also host a special festive performance, Three-Part Harmony with KaRoSal, on 20 December from 3pm to 4pm. This Galway-based trio—Kara Donohoe, Róna O’Riordan and Sarah Toomey—perform a warm blend of bluegrass, gospel, contemporary and folk music.
