The funeral will take place today (Thursday ) of a woman who died in her home in Spiddal over the weekend after a suspected fall.
Filimíne Hernon, aged in her 70s, was found dead at the property in Spiddal at about 5.30pm on Friday.
The emergency services were alerted and when gardaí and paramedics arrived at the property, a dormer bungalow in Salahoona, Ms Hernon was pronounced dead.
Detectives are investigating whether the mother of three suffered a fatal fall several hours before the emergency services were alerted. Ms Hernon worked as a special needs assistant at Scoil Iogna?id in the city; and online this week, many tributes were paid to her by friends, colleagues and pupils.
Ms Hernon, sister of former Fianna Fail MEP Sean O Neachtain, is predeceased by her husband Mike, her mother Cáit, her father Joe, and her sister Bríd.
She is survived by her children, Joey, Emily and Nicky.
Ms Hernon reposed at her home in Salahoona, Spiddal on Wednesday and funeral mass is taking place this morning (Thursday ) at 11am in Cille Éinde Church.
