With the cooler months upon us, West Coast Insulation are recommending homeowners take advantage of the current grant scheme for home insulation. A well-insulated home will retain more heat during the cooler months, while lowering heating bills, which has become increasingly important with the rising cost of electricity and fuel.

The current insulation grant scheme offers a grant of up to € 3,250 for cavity wall and attic insulation. Homeowners can contact John Folan from West Coast Insulation for a free quotation for cavity wall and attic insulation.

The scheme to install upgraded insulation has increased the amounts involved to €3,250 for detached houses, €2,550 for semi-detached houses, €2,050 for mid-terrace houses, and €1,550 for apartments. This typically accounts for a significant portion of the overall work cost, and the insulation can usually be installed within one working day.

West Coast Insulation will assist homeowners with the grant forms and simplify the process as much as possible to make it easier for them. The package, delivered by West Coast Insulation and its supplier, Kingspan Eco-Bead, makes insulating homes more attractive than ever.

With energy costs rising and set to rise further, the cost of the works is likely to pay for itself within a short number of years, and homeowners can enjoy a more comfortable temperature in their homes.

When insulating a house, the company injects EcoBead Platinum Bonded Bead into the cavity walls, even when there is existing Aerobord insulation already in place. This significantly improves the U-values and heat retention, and also fills in any gaps in the older insulation.

They keep the injection holes closer together to ensure the walls are filled 100 per cent and that the bead is packed as tightly as possible. The company install Knauf Rolled mineral wool in the attics.

John Folan went on to say, “Most attics have some existing fibreglass insulation at around 100mm depth. The downside of fibreglass is that it shrinks over time and requires periodic upgrades. We install Knauf attic insulation up to 300mm, providing the best U-values possible. We also fit the insulating jackets and lids around the tanks, fit the heavy-duty 19mm lagging on the pipes and insulate the attic door”.

West Coast Insulation is a family-run business operating throughout Galway and Mayo since 2009. All products and work are fully guaranteed, and they always deliver the highest quality service and workmanship.

They ensure both walls and attics are insulated to the highest standards, and the house will be left clean and tidy after the work is complete.
