Councillor Helen Ogbu has congratulated Catherine Connolly on her election, describing it as “a new dawn for an Ireland rooted in unity, inclusivity, and shared purpose”.
Cllr Ogbu, who actively participated in Catherine Connolly’s campaign in Galway, including leading canvassing teams and joining the final canvass on October 19, said the new President’s message of working together to shape a Republic that values everyone “reflects the very best of Ireland’s principles”.
“Catherine Connolly is a woman of great vision, integrity, compassion, and principle. She says what she means and means what she says. Her focus on migrants and inclusion in her acceptance speech captures the spirit of the Ireland we are all striving to build, one that truly works for everyone,” said Cllr Ogbu.
She added that President Connolly’s authenticity, intelligence, and deep sense of justice make her “an inclusive President for all just like President Higgins before her”.
“This is a great time for everyone who believes in an Ireland with unity and inclusivity at its core. Catherine’s campaign inspired volunteers from across the country to come on board and build this movement for change. Her leadership will help us continue to shape a Republic where every person feels seen, valued, and represented.”
