Hallowe’en triple bill

Kenan Flannery

Kenan Flannery

Three acclaimed Irish singer-songwriters, Rachel Goode, Colm Gavin, and Kenan Flannery, will take to the stage at the Backstage venue at Monroe’s Live this Halloween night, Friday, October 31, at 7.30pm.

Ballinasloe native Rachel Goode, an award-winning soprano, is described by Nathan Carter as one of the finest female singers he has ever heard. Rooted in folk with influences of Americana, blues, and soul, her single, ‘Western Highway’, highlights her deep connection to songs that carry emotional weight.

Her upcoming album was recorded entirely live to capture a raw, authentic sound. The collection features a mix of string-driven, folky and bluegrass elements, with some tracks carrying a distinctly traditional Irish feel.

A first-class honours graduate of the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama, she has previously won the Milford Haven Young Opera Singer of the Year award and the Ian Stoutzker Prize for outstanding musicianship. Goode has shared the stage with many of Ireland’s most respected performers, including Sean Keane, Eleanor Shanley, Daniel O’Donnell, and Mike Hanrahan.

Joining her on the night is Dublin songwriter Colm Gavin, whose career includes chart-topping releases in both Britain and Ireland, as well as performances at prestigious venues such as Vicar Street, the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, and Birdland in New York City.

Signed to BEO Records, Gavin’s work has elements of artists like Cole Porter and Paul Simon.

Completing the line-up is Dublin folk troubadour Kenan Flannery, a distinctive voice in the Irish folk scene.

Raised in Cabra, his songs draw inspiration from everyday life. His music channels the influence of John Prine and Townes Van Zandt, combining storytelling lyrics with acoustic sound.

His latest release, Never Really Anywhere, is an eight-track acoustic album recorded at Copper Kelly’s Studio in Wexford. The record captures the sincerity and spirit that define his live performances, offering listeners a glimpse into his songwriting.

Join Rachel Goode, Colm Gavin, and Kenan Flannery at Monroe’s Live Backstage this Halloween night, Friday, October 31 at 7.30pm.
