Dublin Cemeteries Trust (DCT ) has appointed Galway historian Dr Brian Casey as its new Historian and Archives Manager, bringing a wealth of historical expertise and archival knowledge to one of Ireland’s most significant heritage organisations.
Dr Casey holds a PhD in Modern Irish History from Maynooth University and a Diploma in Archives and Records Management from Dundee University. His career has spanned key areas of Irish and international history, with initial research focused on 19th century Ireland.
Dr Casey’s appointment strengthens the organisation’s commitment to preserving and sharing the rich stories held within its historic cemeteries, including Glasnevin Cemetery, Ireland’s national necropolis.
Dr Brian Casey said he is delighted to join Dublin Cemeteries Trust at such a significant time in its history.
“The archives and cemeteries under DCT’s care tell the story of Ireland and its people over two centuries. As we move toward the bicentenary, I look forward to working with colleagues to bring significant stories to life.”
