Eddie Mullarkey

Eddie Mullarkey is a rising name in Irish stand-up, thanks to his top-notch crowd work and his charming way of interacting with audiences. Armed with his engaging, storytelling approach to observational stand-up, it is no surprise that the Festival has given him his own club night for this year’s event.

Full Of Mullarkey, hosted by Mullarkey, takes place at Pálás Cinema, from Thursday, October 23 to Sunday, October 26. These mixed bill nights boast impressive line-ups of established names and rising talent.

The first night Full Of Mullarkey, Thursday, October 23, features award-winning Scottish comic, Mark Nelson, who has supported Jim Jefferies, Jason Manford, and Russell Kane, and who, according to The List, possessing “a talent that is simply obscene”.

The impressive line-ups continue on Friday, October 24, with Glenn Wool headlining. A veteran of comedy clubs and festivals, The Daily Telegraph declared him “edgy, imaginative, funny and original, who sets the standards”.

Also on the bill is Kevin Gildea, who, alongside Ardal O’Hanlon and Barry Murphy, pioneered Ireland’s alternative comedy boom in the 1990s, and the brilliant Galway comedian Ronan Clancy.

Saturday, October 25, sees New York comedy powerhouse Aaron Berg take to the stage. Expect sharp wit, high energy, and more punchlines per minute than most comedians can dream of.

This strong bill also features John Colleary, co-writer of the IFTA-nominated RTÉ shows, The Savage Eye and Irish Pictorial Weekly, praised by Tommy Tiernan as “my favourite comic…playful, inventive and brilliant”, and Jess Collins, a Show Me The Funny finalist, who has played Electric Picnic and Galway Comedy Festival.

The final night of Full of Mullarkey will be headlined by the great Tom Rhodes. Described as “a compelling comedian” by Broadway Baby, his ability to confront “the harsh realities of life with a dark and absurdly optimistic cynicism” has been noted by The New York Times.

Also on the bill is the critically acclaimed Aideen McQueen, who describes herself as “a woman who’s been through just enough therapy to monetise her emotional chaos”, and Chris McShane, the 2024 winner of the coveted TedFest Toilet Duck Award, who has supported Deirdre O’Kane, Joe Rooney, and David McSavage.
