Ballybane Community Hub thanks supporters for garden transformation

Donal Lynch, on behalf of everyone at the Ballybane Community Hub, has expressed heartfelt thanks to Cllr Helen Ogbu for her support in securing funding through the Galway City Council’s CAIRDE Grant 2025. The grant has enabled the completion of improvement works to the Hub’s back garden area.

Special thanks were also extended to Edward Conlon and the management and staff of Galway City Council’s Community and Culture Department for their collaboration throughout the project.

The newly developed outdoor space has transformed what was once an underused and uneven patch of ground into a vibrant, inclusive area designed for community gatherings, relaxation, and socialising. The upgraded garden now features a new accessible surface to ensure safe navigation for people of all ages and abilities, along with raised flower beds that enhance both the beauty and functionality of the space.

“This project has made the Hub’s outdoor area more welcoming, safe, and enjoyable for everyone,” said Mr. Lynch. “We are deeply grateful to Cllr Ogbu for directing funding to this initiative and to all who worked with us to make it happen.”

The Hub team also extended appreciation to artist and graphic designer Irene Naughton, as well as the members of the Youth Shed and residents of Ballybane and Mervue, for their creative contribution in completing a striking outdoor mural for Culture Night 2025. This artwork, delivered in partnership with the Galway City Council Arts Office and the Arts Council of Ireland, adds a vibrant cultural touch to the garden’s new look.
