Nine new electric vehicle charging hubs are to be rolled-out across County Galway in early 2026.

The Galway sites are among 90 new nationwide hubs, as part of a €10 million government package to support grants for recharging infrastructure at the selected sites. These new sites will comprise 192 new fast recharging points, with a promised average charging capacity of 250kW at the locations along the national primary and secondary road network.

The nine sites in Galway will be located at Sweeney Oil in Moycullen, Oranmore and Clifden, the Leenane Hotel, Moylough Service Station, Corrib Oil Loughrea, the Arches Hotel Claregalway, McHughs Kileen (Tuam Road ), and Top Oil Service Station Headford.

The government aims to build "a reliable recharging network" across Ireland, with the distance between hubs "envisaged as 30km or less".

It also says the new EV chargers are "envisaged to be available for public use by the end of Quarter 1 2026".
