They will be joined by Yvonne Fahy, Eimear Coughlan and other special guests, for a celebration of music rooted in heritage, community, and tradition.
Growing up in East Galway, Máirín from Ballinakill, and Patsy from Kilreekil, have been playing music together since childhood.
Both were members of the All-Ireland-winning Junior Ballinakill Céilí Band, inspired by the region’s rich tradition and musicians such as Aggie and Bridie Whyte, Eddie Moloney, Vincent Broderick, and composer Fr PJ Kelly.
The album, Galway to Fiji, shines a spotlight on the compositions of Fr Kelly, whose melodies are beloved for their delicate phrasing and unmistakable East Galway charm.
The album blends fiddle and piano, with tracks including jigs, reels and hornpipes, such as ‘Easter Day’, ‘Figi Reels’, and ‘Mrs Kelly’s Fancy’.
While their roots are firmly in East Galway, both musicians have carved out highly successful individual careers.
Máirín has performed with Reeltime, Riverdance, The Chieftains, and currently Trad on the Prom, while Patsy has played with Gaelforce, Arcady, and the Senior All-Ireland-winning Shannon Vale Céilí Band.
Together, they were also part of Macalla, the ground-breaking all-female traditional group that recently celebrated its anniversary with a sold-out concert at Dublin TradFest.
Now reunited through Galway to Fiji, Máirín and Patsy bring their journey full circle, paying tribute to the music that shaped them and the composer who left an indelible mark on their community.
The fully seated concert at Monroe’s Live will showcase this new work on Saturday, October 11 from 7.30pm.
