The Bluetones bounce into town

Britpop legends The Bluetones will bring their iconic sound to Monroe’s Live on Friday, October 10, with doors open at 9pm.

The band are back in full force with a new single, ‘London Weekend Television’, and an EP of the same name.

It is the third release in a trilogy that marks their triumphant return after a 14-year break, paving the way for a new album expected in early 2026.

Playful, punchy, and full of nostalgia, the new tracks capture their trademark melodic style while also showing off a lighter side.

Formed in Hounslow in 1993, The Bluetones quickly became a key part of the Britpop era, winning fans with hits such as ‘Bluetonic’, ‘Slight Return’, ‘Marblehead Johnson’, ‘Solomon Bites The Worm’, ‘If’, and ‘Keep the Fires Burning’.

Over the years they have scored 13 Top 40 singles and three Top 10 albums, cementing their place in English indie history.

While often grouped with the Britpop movement, many see The Bluetones as much more.

Mark Morriss’ passionate vocals and Adam Devlin’s soaring guitar work draw on a wide range of influences, from British indie to classic West Coast rock.

The band, consisting of brothers Mark and Scott Morriss, Devlin, and Eds Chesters, first broke through in 1995 when their debut single, ‘Are You Blue or Are You Blind’, entered the Top 40.

From there, they released six albums and toured across Britain, Ireland, Europe and Japan before stepping away in 2011.

In 2024, The Bluetones released their first new material in over a decade and hit the summer festival circuit, before heading out on a full British and Irish tour.

With their mix of indie-pop classics and new songs brimming with energy, their Monroe’s Live show on Friday, October 10, from 9pm, promises a night of nostalgia and fresh sounds.

Support on the night is from Si Noble.
