Dermot Bolger featured in ‘Crannog’

International literary magazine, Crannóg, will launch its 63rd issue tomorrow, Friday, September 26, in The Crane Bar on Sea Road.

Crannóg is published by WordsOnTheStreet, and appears in March and September. Each issue features about 10 short stories and 35 poems, often with emphasis on Galway’s writers, plus informative and enlightening interviews. The main interviewee for the current issue is poet and playwright Dermot Bolger.

The Aosdána member is a prolific novelist, playwright, poet and editor from Dublin, whose early works often reference his native Finglas.

This issue also includes short stories by Hugo Kelly, Aoibheann McCann, Mike O’Halloran and poems by Alan McMonagle, Emily Cullen and Jessamyn Fairfield.

The covers of Crannóg feature the work of visual artists and are constantly admired for their artistic merit.

Each year the Crannóg editors nominate three poets for Britain’s prestigious Forward Prize, and nominate three poets and three fiction writers for the US-based Pushcart Prize.

In addition, one contributor to each issue of Crannóg is granted a bursary of €1,500 to help with their writing career.

This autumn, Aoibheann McCann is the recipient of the bursary, generously sponsored by the poet Marian Kilcoyne.

Crannóg also runs the long-established Galway Writers’ Workshop.

The magazine costs €10 for over 100 pages of quality literature. Subscriptions available.

Crannóg is financially supported by the Arts Council of Ireland and by Galway City Council.

Crannóg is available from bookshops, or home delivered via www.crannogmagazine.com
