An employee of a Galway electrical appliance company is to go on trial for allegedly stealing a significant quantity of goods from his employer and then falsifying a stock-taking report to make it look as if the goods were still present.
Evan Golding of Woodlawn, Ballinasloe denies the offence and the case will be heard at a later date, the September 15 sitting of Galway District Court was told.
Judge Fiona Lydon was told that it was alleged that Golding took kitchen appliances to the value of €2,795 from his place of employment Harvey Norman, Ballybane, Galway and delivered them to an address in Mayo. CCTV footage was obtained by investigating Gardaí and will be used as part of the prosecution
It will be alleged that he used his position when stock-taking to mark the missing goods as still present.
Golding has no previous convictions and is pleading not guilty to the offence, his barrister Gary McDonald told the Court.
