Local fighters take to the ring this weekend

The Ardilaun Hotel will host a major Galway Black Dragon Kickboxing Gym this Saturday, September 20.

There will be a total of eighteen fights under K-1 Rules including two All-Ireland titles and a professional fight as the main event. Both the Irish Men's Bantamweight K-1 title and the Irish Ladies Lightweight K-1 title are on the line.

Oisín Concannon from Barna will lock horns with Caelin Gilsenan from Kickfit Gym in Wicklow over five rounds for the vacant Irish Bantamweight K-1 title. Giulia Comini from Galway city will clash with Chloe Keogh from the Limerick Hub Kickboxing Gym in Moyross for the Ladies Lightweight K-1 title.

Corey O'Malley, also from Galway city, will enter into his third professional K-1 contest with tough Ukrainian fighter Viacheslav Ibrahimov who currently trains out of the Phoenix Gym in Tralee. Both men have had a distinguished amateur career and are now looking to make their mark in the pro ranks.

Doors open on Saturday at 5.30pm with the first fight scheduled for 6pm sharp. Tickets are available from the Black Dragon Gym, the fighters, or there is limited availability at the door on the night. You can phone 087 8119227 for more details.
