Witnesses sought after woman (80s) dies in Wellpark road incident

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road collision which occurred on the Dublin Road, at Wellpark in Galway city yesterday, Monday September 15.

A female pedestrian was struck by a bus in the collision.

The pedestrian, aged in her 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body has been removed to University Hospital Galway where a post-mortem will be carried out.

No one else was injured in the incident.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators carried out an examination of the scene and the road has since been reopened.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users who were travelling in the area between 8.30pm and 9pm on Monday, and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam ), are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
