ATU launches 1916 Bursary application drive for first years

Atlantic Technical University (ATU ) has opened applications for the 2025/26 1916 Bursary with the contribution aiming to encourage participation and success for students who are most socio-economically disadvantaged and from groups most under-represented in higher education.

Applicants must meet certain criteria to become eligible for the bursary. You must be first time entrants of an undergraduate programme with a household reckonable income of less than €27,400. Meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee a bursary, as the number of bursaries is limited.

There are three levels of financial aid offered to students - Tier 1: €5,000 per annum, Tier 2: €2,000 per annum and Tier 3: A one-off payment of €1,500. Students who receive Tier 1 or 2 bursaries during their undergraduate studies can continue receiving support for postgraduate studies.

Dr Celia Keenaghan, WNW Connect Cluster Coordinator based at ATU highlights that the Bursary is part of a range of supports available through the Access and Widening Participation Service.

“We encourage all eligible students to apply and access the support they need to reach their full potential at ATU,” said Dr Keenaghan.

For more information, including full eligibility criteria and application guidelines, visit the ATU’s 1916 Bursary information website. Applications close on October 10, 2025 at 5pm.
