Midlands-North-West MEP Ciaran Mullooly has welcomed the announcement by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, proposing to suspend the EU-Israel Trade Agreement under Article 2, requiring that any country trading with the EU must uphold international humanitarian standards.
“Israel has been in breach of these standards and conditions for many months in relation to its actions in Gaza.
“From the very first day of my mandate in the European Parliament, I have called for this suspension.”, Mullooly stated. “The ongoing starvation inflicted on the people of Gaza must stop. While much more needs to be done, today’s decision is a welcome and necessary development,” he concluded.
