St. Nicholas’ Collegiate Church will hold its annual Back to School Service on Sunday September 7 at 11am, welcoming families as children prepare to begin a new academic year.

The service will give thanks for the gift of education, and is for children – and their families – who are returning to, or starting primary, secondary school, or university, and is intended to fortify, inspire, and give young minds confidence for the year ahead.

The service will include readings from local students, adding a meaningful student voice to the celebration, and pupils from all schools in the city are welcome to attend and bring their school bags to their service as prayers are said for all students returning to school.

“This Thanksgiving service, marking the beginning of the new academic year, reminds us that education is not only about knowledge, but also about values, faith, and community,” says the Very Revd Lynda Peilow, Rector of St Nicholas Collegiate Church. “The service will provide space for students, teachers, parents, and the wider community to pause, reflect, and express gratitude for the gift of learning, and I hope every student and teacher will be inspired for their journey ahead.”
