Shower singers wanted for public performance

Do you sing in the shower, croon in da crib, or yodel in your… er… yurt?

If so, then you could become one of a Galway choir’s 100 new ‘Voices’ to come together for a sell-out show at the Town Hall Theatre this winter.

Beginning today, Thursday, September 4, RISE Choir is seeking ordinary people who like singing to embark on a twelve-week journey toward performing in Galway’s prestigious Town Hall Theatre, and unleash their inner singer.

Over a period of twelve weeks, leading voice coach Dr Caren Hession will teach the musical arrangements and vocal harmonies of three powerhouse songs to shower singers interested in exploring their vocal capabilities.

With no prior experience required, the group will come together on September 4, and continue to learn three hit songs over twelve group rehearsals, eight of which taking place before the Christmas period and the remaining four after.

“There was great comradery, connection and community spirit amongst the group last year. It gave us great courage to get up on that stage and just enjoy ourselves. I could never have imagined I would have done such a thing before, but I really enjoyed it,” said a member of last year’s programme.

The choir is seeking anyone who is curious about singing but never had the chance to previously explore their voice. “If you’ve ever wanted to feel the energy and buzz of a live band around you, while singing your heart out to a sell-out audience, now is your chance’, said Dr Hession.

This experience is all part of the Born To Rise Self-Development Programme, a two-day event aimed at helping individuals find their voice, physically and metaphorically; build confidence, release inhibitions and unlock potential.
