Local charity Galway Contact is having a Coffee Morning in the Ardilaun Hotel on Thursday September 11 between 11.00 and 13.00.
Please consider taking a few minutes out of your day to drop in to the hotel reception area for a cuppa and some refreshments. You will be supporting Galway Contact to raise much needed funds which will help them to continue their visiting service and other supports to older people.
The charity, which was established in 1981 and is probably one of the longest serving local voluntary organisations in Galway, helps older people who may feel lonely or isolated.
Their volunteers visit people on a weekly basis and run social clubs, their bus brings people who have no means of transport to various weekly lunch clubs and the organisation assists people in obtaining a personal alarm so they are safe and have peace of mind in their own home.
Galway Contact receiveS modest funding from the HSE and Pobal but despite this and the fact that the trustees, board of management and other volunteers give freely of their time and skills fundraising is vital to keep the organisation functioning.
