Galway City West and Knocknacarra Councillor Donal Lyons has been informed by officials in Galway City Council that the public lighting in the Seamount estate will be restored in the next two weeks.

He said that he has been receiving ongoing representations from Seamount residents seeking to have the public lighting in the estate restored since the lights went out of order following storm Éowyn in January.

“I have forwarded the residents representations and concerns to Galway City Council and I have now been informed that work has already commenced in restoring the lighting with wiring to the existing light poles being removed in the last couple of weeks.

“A public works contractor has been appointed to install new ducting and wiring which will enable new lighting for the estate to be commissioned,” he said. adding that he realises that this issue has taken time to sort out and I want to thank the residents for their patience in having the public lighting restored.

“I also want to thank Galway City Council Roads Department for their help and assistance in restoring the lights before the winter evenings set in,” Cllr Lyons concluded.
