Galway Centre for Independent Living CLG (GCIL ) continues to champion a powerful message: equal inclusion of people with disabilities in all aspects of society.
For over 30 years, GCIL has supported adults with physical and/or sensory disabilities, promoting independent living through high-quality, person-centred services.
Rooted in dignity, respect and choice, GCIL provides essential supports: Personal Assistants, Homecare Assistants, Transport, and advocacy. Service Users/Leaders actively shape their care plans, ensuring their voices are heard at all times. GCIL’s trusted team offers flexible support across Galway city and county, from a couple of hours per week to full-time assistance. Our Personal Assistants provide support directed by the Leader to enable them to participate in daily activities, both inside and outside the home, promoting choice and control.
GCIL’s staff operate discreetly and professionally, and their compassion is matched by expertise, with rigorous training and support, ensuring that optimal safety and quality standards are always upheld.
As a registered charity and not-for-profit, GCIL reinvests every resource into expanding and improving its services and its work goes far beyond practical support: GCIL promotes inclusion, challenges outdated attitudes through public outreach and strategic partnerships, amplifying the voices of individuals with a disability and raising awareness across the community.
In a county renowned for its cultural warmth, GCIL reflects Galway’s finest values—community, independence, and care. More than just a service provider, it stands as a vital ally in the journey toward self-determination, helping individuals live freely, confidently, and with dignity.
