An explosion of raw, rebellious creativity - WTAF!?

WTAF!? Galway is a new fringe festival in the west of the city for emerging artists.

Theatre, music, drag, visual art, and mayhem; organisers say it will have it all.

What the f**k is WTAF!? It is Galway’s newest festival, carved out for the punks, the misfits, and the beautifully chaotic.

Running from July 21 to Wednesday, July 30,the Westend Theatre and Arts Festival (WTAF!? ) aims to transform the streets, basements, rooftops, and backrooms of Galway’s vibrant Westend into a living, breathing canvas.

WTAF!? wants to be a home for emerging voices : punk poets, DIY dramatists, rogue musicians, spoken word anarchists, and visual outcasts. If you have ever been told your work is too weird, too intense, or does not fit the mould, then WTAF!? may not just be for you – it is you.

Expect theatre that does not play by the rules. Music that shakes the walls. Art that breaks through boundaries. From Dyke on Dyke Road to Sakura, As the Crow Flies, Scéalarious, open mic nights, busking stages, and visual exhibitions, the festival’s line-up is gloriously defiant. Events like Night in the Westend, The Electric Wizard, Voices on the Water, and For the Record ensure the pulse of WTAF!? never slows.

Workshops, late-night gigs, and impromptu pop-ups keep the vibe unexpected and electric. Whether you are performing or just soaking it up, WTAF!? is bold, rebellious, raw, and unapologetically Galway.

Forget the mainstream. This is where boundaries blur and the underground shines. This is WTAF!? Galway – and it is about damn time.
