Cheevers welcomes progress on new bus stops for Roscam

Cllr Alan Cheevers has welcomed confirmation that new bus stops for the Roscam area are expected to be constructed in time for the start of the new school year in September.

The Galway City Council Active Travel Team is currently working to expedite the delivery of the new bus stop infrastructure to better serve school children living in Roscam.

Concerns had been raised by local parents about the current situation, where children must walk to the Dublin Road to access school buses. The road is extremely busy and poses significant safety concerns, particularly for younger children.

“This is a very positive step for families in Roscam,” said Cllr Cheevers. “It’s not acceptable that children have to navigate such a busy thoroughfare to access public transport.

“The new bus stops will make a big difference for safety and accessibility, and I will continue to work closely with the Council to ensure this project is delivered without delay.”
