The making of Bob Quinn's iconic film 'Caoineadh Airt Uí Laoire' in 1975 will be commemorated next Thursday evening, July 10, at 8pm, with a screening of the film in Seanscoil Sailearna, Indreabhán, the same location in which the groundbreaking film was made.

The special 50th anniversary screening of 'Caoineadh Airt Uí Laoire' is being organised by Club Scannán Sailearna, in conjunction with the Galway Film Fleadh, and with the support of TG4.

'Caoineadh Airt Uí Laoire' is considered to have been the first fiction film ever produced in Irish. The making of the film 50 years ago by Bob Quinn and Cinegael is considered to have planted the seed for Irish language film-making, now flourishing, as evidenced by the number of films in Irish to be screened at this years Galway Film Fleadh.

Tickets and further information are available on the film club's website www.clubscannan.ie
