Colga FC girls u-14s have advanced to the last eight of the Irish Cup after a well-deserved 1 - 0 win over Templeogue United in Dublin.
This team, unbeaten this year in both league and cups, now will meet Malahide in the quarter-finals at home.
Colga could have had this game won earlier in the match, but for some poor finishing and excellent goal keeping that kept Templeogue in the match.
Saoirse Burke, in goal for Colga, was not forced to make one worthwhile save throughout the match - due in no small part to Colga’s midfield, who got a grip on the game early on. And if the midfield was breached, the backline was effective in clearing their lines.
It took a fabulous 25-yard free kick from Lisa Casserly to break the deadlock with just seven minutes remaining.
Colga, now hoping to keep their 100 per cent unbeaten record intact, entertain Malahide at home on Sunday week - Colga’s first home game in the Irish Cup.
