Going away for the Summer holidays
Do not put your home address on your luggage when you are travelling to your holiday destination, a work address or telephone number/email address will suffice if you want to label your luggage.
Do not overly advertise that you are away from home on your social media accounts. If you wish to do so post pictures upon your return from your holidays.
If you normally leave valuable bicycles or similar items in your shed, consider putting them in the house until you return.
Make sure that you lock all outside doors and windows and set your house alarm if you have one.
Trusted neighbours may be able to keep an eye on your house. They could park their car in your driveway, opening and closing the curtains. Make your home look like someone is living in it, make use of smart light plugs etc.
Avoid discussing holiday plans where strangers may hear details of your absence from home
Lock away important documents, valuables, jewellery and cash in a safe location.
