Good news for runners and walkers still wanting to take part in this year’s Streets of Galway 8k Road Race.
Organisers from the Galway City Harriers Athletic Club have been able to increase the number of entrants from 2,000 to 2,500 for the first time, and as a result some late entries are still available.
Innovations like chip timing and the on-line entry that were introduced and tested last year, as well as some more fine-tuning this year, have enabled the GCH to extend the closing date for entries and increase the number of participants.
The club is now hoping this 24th running of the Streets of Galway will be the best and biggest yet.
To date entries have been attracted from all over Ireland and Europe, though as is traditional, the vast majority of entrants are people of all ages from Galway city and county.
This year’s race takes place on Saturday August 8, catering for all grades of runners, from elite athletes to recreational runners. Race details are on the website www.galwaycityharriers.com
