McClenaghan's visit was organised by Gymnastics Ireland where just eight clubs were selected to host the 2024 Olympic gold medal winner. Last Saturday, McClenaghan held his private session with RGC's competitive gymnasts from Women's Artistic, Tumbling and Trampoline.

RGC gymnasts listened to McClenaghan speak about his journey as a gymnast and his experience at the Paris Olympics in 2024 where he won Ireland's first gold medal in gymnastics on Pommel Horse. He had the medal with him and the gymnasts got to hold it, and some even tried it on. They also had lots of questions for him before the training session began.

McClenaghan visited with each group and coach to chat about the club, the gymnasts and their goals. He even helped out coach Caoimhe Murphy at bars by spotting the FIG Juniors group on their big release and catch skills. RGC Tumblers showed off their whips, flips and twists.

There are five gymnasts in RGC preparing for the Coimbra Cup in Portugal and he joined RGC Tumbling Lead and Irish National coach Elaine Ryan to see their runs as they prepare for this event.

Toward the end of the session, he led the gymnasts in a cool down stretch before joining in a game of volleyball.

RGC runs Recreational and Participation programmes for girls and boys. Their competitive programmes for WAG, Tumbling and Trampoline are by invite only. New members spaces will be offered in August and you can join the waitlist by accessing the portal on their website - www.renmoregymnastics.org
