Claddagh Credit Union has announced the continued growth of its popular Connect Card scheme, expanding its reach to include businesses in Athlone alongside those in Galway City and County.
First launched in 2018, the Connect Card rewards Claddagh Credit Union members with exclusive discounts and offers from a growing list of local retailers and service providers. Participating businesses include well-known names such as Harpers, Anthony Ryans, McDonald’s, Peter Murphy Lighting & Electrical, Energize Fitness, and many more.
“The continued expansion of the Connect Card reflects Claddagh Credit Union’s commitment to supporting the local community,” said Ted Coyle, Deputy CEO of Claddagh Credit Union. “By strengthening the connection between our members and local businesses, we are helping to foster a more resilient and vibrant economy—one that benefits everyone involved.”
Deputy Mayor of Galway City, Niall McNelis, praised the initiative: “As someone who has used the Connect Card, I believe it presents a valuable opportunity for businesses across Galway City. With a potential market of over 130,000 customers, businesses can offer discounts that Claddagh Credit Union actively promotes. It’s an effective initiative and we’ve seen that effectiveness first-hand.”
The Connect Card is available free to all members of Claddagh Credit Union and can be picked up at any of its branches in Mainguard Street, Westside, and Oughterard. Members simply present the card at participating businesses to avail of special offers, making it easy to save while supporting the local economy.
