WHILE EVERYONE knows such classic Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice musicals like Phantom Of The Opera, few have heard of The Likes Of Us.
The Likes of Us was the first collaboration between Rice and Lloyd Webber in 1965, however it was not staged until 2005. The show is based on the life of the Irish evangelist, entrepreneur, and philanthropist Dr Thomas Barnardo, whose crusade to rescue children living on the streets became world renowned. Today the Barnardos charity supports children whose well-being is under threat.
The show will be performed by Loughrea Youth Theatre in The Temperance Hall, Loughrea, on Saturday July 18 to Monday 20; from Saturday 25 to Monday 27; and from Saturday August 1 to Monday 3 at 8.30pm nightly. Tickets are available at the door.
