Abbott employees in Galway have presented a cheque for €8,952 to Ábalta Special School in Parkmore. The school, an Abbott ‘Charity of Choice’, will use the funds to support inclusive education for children with autism and complex needs.

The funds were raised through various activities over two years, including cake sales, raffles, garden clean-ups, and back-to-school drives.

Abbott’s support for Ábalta Special School is part of its volunteering and giving initiative, Croí an Óir, which means ‘heart of gold’ in Irish. Created in 2007, this programme encourages Abbott employees to give back to their local communities.

Sean Langan, site director, Abbott, said: “We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to help our neighbours here in Parkmore. Their dedicated team contributes to a well-rounded and holistic education for its students. At Abbott, we focus on helping people live their best lives through good health, and we are delighted to support Ábalta Special School in their mission of helping people live their best lives through education.”
