Toyota has revealed the new Aygo X Hybrid compact crossover expected to land in 2026. It is the first time the Aygo X will be offered with a petrol-electric hybrid system.
According to Toyota, the introduction of its latest hybrid technology means the new Aygo X Hybrid has more power and sharper acceleration for a more efficient driving experience.
The overall system power output is increased by 44hp compared to the previous non-hybrid version, reaching a maximum of 116hp and giving the Aygo X Hybrid 0-100km/h acceleration in under 10 seconds.
Toyota says new noise damping components makes for a quieter and smoother drive. Dash silencers, bonnet insulation and engine underbody cover combine with an updated exhaust system and silencer. On higher grades, other noise reduction measures including thicker window glass and additional sound proofing throughout the body further enhance comfort.
The new Aygo X Hybrid also benefits from comprehensive safety and driver assistance package, as a result of Toyota Safety Sense technology. This includes enhanced Pre-Collision System, Lane Trace Assist and Road Sign Assist features, as well as new Emergency Driving Stop System and Proactive Driving Assist. For the first time on an Aygo X, Toyota Safety Sense benefits from over the air updates to ensure the latest protection.
In another first for the Aygo X, owners will be able to avail of Toyota’s Hybrid Battery Extended Care Programme with the Aygo X Hybrid. The programme was developed to provide hybrid drivers with reassuring protection in the unlikely event of the hybrid battery failing. It offers a 15-year or unlimited mileage warranty once the car is serviced with a Toyota dealership.
The exterior of the Aygo X Hybrid features a new bonnet, new headlamps and new front grille, as well as 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels, depending on the grade, and black flared wheel arches. There is also the option of a bi-tone colour which extends from the roof across the rear and down to the side sills. Boot capacity remains 231-litres.
A renewed interior houses a new seven-inch digital display and heater control panel, while an electronic parking brake comes as standard on all grades, as do two USB-C charging ports. A new wireless smartphone charger, a digital key, powered folding mirrors, and nanoeX technology for improved air quality are also available on higher grades.
Irish pricing for the new Toyota Aygo X Hybrid is expected before the 261-plate introduction next January.
