Headfest, Headford’s community-run festival, kicks off this evening and runs right through the June Bank Holiday weekend, bringing with it five days of live music, sport, and family-friendly events across the town.
The festival’s music line-up spans every night, starting Thursday with Elevate, a showcase for young local musicians. Friday brings sets from crowd favourites The Blarneys, The Danny Byrne Band and support from The Jab Band. On Saturday, festival-goers can catch energetic performances from Qween – one of Ireland’s top Queen tribute acts and Tallon. Sunday rounds things off with local legends Tradstone, followed by headline act Mundy, who brings his well-known hits to the Headfest stage.

Sport is a huge part of Headfest each year, and 2025 is no exception. Friday evening sees the launch of the new Headfest 8K Road Race in partnership with Headford Harriers. There is still time to sign up. There are also soccer and Gaelic football blitzes across multiple age levels, the annual Anglers Rest Cup and the ever-popular Headfest Fittest Parish challenge.
Beyond music and sport, the weekend includes a wide range of community events. There is a craft and farmers market, free yoga and Yogalates classes, a children’s variety show, mini disco and an interactive theatre show for babies and toddlers. Other highlights include a group guitar class with David Donoghue, a heritage talk on the archaeology of Lough Corrib, and the Tractor, Truck and Vintage Car Run in aid of Ability West.
Across the weekend, festival-goers can enjoy a great selection of food and drink. Birdhouse will be launching their brand new food truck on site from Friday, joined by Burgerlicious and a crepe stand. The Dugout Café at Moyne Villa will also be open during the day, serving teas, coffees, snacks and sweet treats. For those attending the evening gigs, the bar in Monaghan’s Mega Marquee will be open from Friday to Sunday.
