Monroe’s Live will host a weekend of music from tomorrow, Friday, May 16, to Sunday, May 18, with performances from Irish and international artists rooted in folk, traditional, and contemporary styles.
This Friday, Breton folk group Ampouailh and singer, composer and flautist Charlie Le Brun will take to the stage as part of the Galway-Lorient twinning celebrations.
The concert also launches Ampouailh’s 'Iwerzhon' (the Breton word for 'Ireland' ) tour and marks their first performance on Irish soil. The quintet is known for music grounded in the culture and history of Brittany. Charlie Le Brun returns to Galway with a set of Celtic songs and traditional Breton and Irish tunes, sung in Breton, French, English and Irish.
On Saturday, May 17, Galway-based producer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist CAOIMHÍN will perform in the Backstage venue from 7pm. Touring Ireland to share music from his debut album Ríocht Na Sí, the night will be full of trad, downtempo electronica, nu-disco, psychedelia, and nature.

Later that evening, Irish folk band CEOL will play the main stage from 9pm as part of their current international tour. Formed in 2022 following a nationwide talent search led by Nathan Carter and Liam McKenna, CEOL’s performances feature a mix of well-known folk tracks, including 'Beeswing', 'The Ferryman', 'Big Strong Man', 'Some Say the Devil Is Dead', and 'Travellin’ Soldier', along with their latest single, 'Victim Of Last Night'.
Afterwards, DJ Will Soflty will bring the rhythm to Monroe’s Late Night Venue to keep the party going with the best of classic hits and thumping anthems.
On Sunday, May 18, Clare Island singer-songwriter Niall McCabe will perform, following his debut at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville during its centenary year. His upcoming album Stranger draws on Irish folk and Americana influences and explores themes of identity, grief, resilience and belonging.
Support comes from award-winning multi-instrumentalist Alannah Thornburgh, who reimagines Irish harp airs and traditional tunes through American folk and jazz traditions.
