Coláiste Iognáid student named on Rowing Ireland team

Paul Schofield will represent Rowing Ireland in Poland at the U19 European Rowing Championships.

A student from Coláiste Iognáid has been called up to represent Rowing Ireland at the U19 European Rowing Championships 2025.

Paul Schofield, a fifth-year student at the Jes and Coláiste Iognáid's club men's captain, is part of the Junior Men's fours team alongside Daniel Crozier (Methodist College Belfast ), Tommy Little (Neptune ) and Richard Heaslip (Athlone ). It will be Paul's second time in Irish colours on the international stage, having previously competed in the Home Internationals held in Strathclyde, Scotland in July 2024.

The 2025 U19 European Rowing Championships will take place in Kruszwica, Poland on Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25. The selected athletes will continue their final preparations at the National Rowing Centre, where they will train under the guidance of Rowing Ireland’s high-performance staff in the lead-up to the event.

This year’s U19 team showcases a strong blend of emerging talent from clubs across the country, highlighting the depth and development of junior rowing in Ireland.
