Sport, music and market at Headfest 2025

Monaghan’s Mega Marquee at Moyne Villa soccer club will be the central hub for Headford’s annual festival over the June bank holiday weekend.

From Thursday, May 29, to Monday, June 2, Headfest will celebrate the Co Galway town’s strong sense of community with music, sport and a market.

This year’s music line-up opens on Thursday evening with Elevate, a showcase of emerging talent from the Headford area. Friday night brings performances from The Blarneys and the Danny Byrne Band.

Saturday features the tribute acts Qween and Tallon, followed by Sunday’s headliners Tradstone and Mundy, to cap off the festival.

In sport, the Headfest 8K Road Race, a new addition this year, welcomes runners, joggers and walkers to take on the route alongside Headford Harriers.

Across the weekend, there’s a full line-up of sporting activity, including Gaelic football blitzes and competitions for girls at Under-10, Under-12 and Under-14 level.

Soccer also takes centre-stage with the Anglers Rest Cup, and the ever-popular Fittest Parish challenge brings local rivalry and community spirit together in a great finish.

Headfest is a celebration of community, offering something for all. The Craft and Farmers Market will feature local producers and crafters, while free Yoga and Yogalates sessions are available for all ages with Niamh from Inspire Yoga.

Kids can enjoy theatre shows, including a variety show and interactive performances for younger children and babies.

Dave Donoghue will host a free guitar class, and there’s a history talk on the archaeology of Lough Corrib.

The annual garden competition showcases local green fingered talent, and the Tractor, Truck, and Vintage Car Run returns to raise funds for Ability West.

Visitors can also catch beautiful installations from the Headford yarnbombers across the town throughout the weekend.
