Fianna Fáil Councillor Alan Cheevers has called on Galway City Council reinstate a temporary pull-in at the shop at Roscam on South Doughiska Road for the school bus.
Cllr Cheevers said parents in Roscam have been notified by Bus Eireann this afternoon that the school bus will be moved to the old Dublin Road causing concern with parents for the health and safety of there children having to use the main Dublin Road to access bus.
This issue has come about with the installation of new cycle bollards at the location were temporary pull in for bus was.
“I believe cyclist safety is important but the school children accessing the school bus safely is also paramount it would mean just removing a few bollards to accommodate the bus,” he said.
“The long term solution is a construction of a bus stop and pull in at this location, I have put a notice of motion for May’s monthly meeting calling for this,” concluded Cllr Cheevers.
