Kinvara Area Music welcomes renowned singer-songwriter Mick Hanly on stage at the Gig Room, in Kinvara Community Centre, next Saturday, May 10.

Born in Limerick, Hanly was inspired by mid-50s rock ‘n’ roll and the Liverpool Beat group scene of the sixties. He soon turned his attention to American folk-singers. When he first heard Planxty, he immediately fell in love with this fresh take on Irish traditional music.

In 2016, Mick released Homeland. It featured ten new songs and reunited him with Irish musicians.

His album All I Remember spawned the song 'Past the Point of Rescue', which was a hit in the US, receiving the BMI award for two million radio plays.

His songs have been covered by many great singers, including Christy Moore, Mary Black, Dolores Keane and Delbert McClinton.

His latest album, released in 2023, is called Marathon and again features most of the Homeland line-up.

Tickets cost €20 from www.kinvaramusic.com or Healing Harvest, Kinvara.
