Shannon Airport is set to experience a significant increase in passenger traffic across the May Bank Holiday period, with more than 53,000 passengers expected to pass through the airport, a rise of 18 per cent compared to the same time last year.
The rise marks a strong start to the summer season as thousands of holidaymakers get set to take advantage of the long weekend to jet off to destinations across Europe, the UK and US.
Passengers will travel to popular destinations including the new sun-soaked island of Madeira, much loved Lanzarote and cosmopolitan short hop cities such as Naples, Palma and Porto.

This summer, Shannon Airport is operating 36 routes to 11 countries, with more than 1.8 million seats available for passengers choosing to fly to and from Ireland’s favourite airport.
Not only will passengers from counties all over Ireland be departing from Shannon, the airport will also serve as the gateway for arriving tourists beginning their journey through Ireland in County Clare – the nation’s first countywide certified sustainable tourism destination.
